Man Charged With Using Drugs With Small Children Present
A Lawrenceburg man has been arrested for allegedly using drugs while in the presence of four youngsters.
First Street resident David Michael Hicks, age 28, was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center Friday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect.
Police officials report that when confronted about the odor of marijuana emanating from his home, Hicks admitted he had smoked the drug. Officers found that he had a small amount of marijuana on his person at the time he was confronted.
Officials indicate that during questioning both Hicks and his girlfriend admitted that he often smoked marijuana while her children, ages 2, 4, 8, and 11, were present.
Hicks was incarcerated under a bond of $61,000. He is scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Thursday, February 7, 2013.
